The Flower Fades

Another pair of lonely McKinley daffodils,
perhaps some earlier, hardier, non-hybrid version
of the flower that still hails an Allegheny spring.
The trees in the background line the old
Main Street of town.
I'm more interested in the flowers
as artifacts than as botanical entities
or things of beauty.
But in answer to my
curious query about the varieties
of jonquils and daffodils,
